Once Upon A Prologue

I started my blog because I wanted a place where I could freely ramble about my love of books, and when I found the book blogging community, I knew I was home. I read a variety of genres although in recent months I have focused on reviewing young adult, paranormal romance, and dsytopian literature. I've stepped outside my comfort zone thanks to the book bloggers I've met, and recommendations I've received, and have made some new friendships, and strengthened existing friendships thanks to book blogging. Along with my obsessions with books, I also have an intense love of scarves, hot tea, purses, shoes, jewelry, and cute animals. Some Books and Coffee

Some Books and Coffee just started last May 16, 2011. It didn’t really started on WordPress. We built SBC on Tumblr, because first of all, we weren't familiar on how to blog on WordPress, and second, we are very used to editing themes on Tumblr. Just this August 29, 2011, we gave WordPress a try, and after a few hours, we have transferred SBC from Tumblr to WordPress.

SBC features Young-Adult literature. It’s the central foundation of the blog. It has a daily dose of book reviews, memes, and news on the latest bestselling novels on the block. SBC is the perfect place for YA bibliophiles to browse for book reviews, while drinking coffee.

The Busy Bibliophile

I am an avid reader and though I like most genres, I mostly stick with chick lit and young adult novels.

I look for a book with a plot that makes sense, strong characterizations (I hate when a character appears strictly to make an important point, and then vanishes, never to be heard from again), real dialogue and of course the romance (not bodice ripping heaving loins or the like, I’m talking real palm-sweat-inducing fluttering heart stuff).

THE BOOKIE MONSTER AUTOBIOGRAPHY

Once upon a time there was a girl named The Bookie Monster. One day she realized that she was being called to a greater purpose. So without further ado, this talented and extraordinary girl began to search for her calling. Years passed without success. There was a close call when she discovered her love for cookies, but even these delicious, straight from God, doughy balls of goodness could not fulfill her inner turmoil. There was something more to life.

One day she happened upon a seemingly normal book that changed her world forever. For safety purposes, I’ll refer to said book as Perry Otter. This series brought joy and happiness and rainbows with sparkly hearts into her life and she knew she had found her calling. From that moment on, her whole life revolved around her new relationship with these books. As she grew up and became more acquainted with computers and the wonders of the internet, she began to discover these magical places where magical things happened. These book blogs, as they were called, brought her to a whole new understanding of her calling. So she became a wizard and created this magic herself and the rest is history.

Wasn’t that a lovely story? My favorite part is when that beautiful and amazing girl became a wizard.

Hello to all my fellow readers and book-bloggers! My name is Lea, I am a 20-something librarian, and I just recently began my own book blog, called LC's Adventures in Libraryland. Basically, I read and review everything under the category of "YA Fiction," and I REALLY try to include as many different genres under that label as possible-- so, while I love paranormal romance, historical fiction, dystopian, etc. I also try to include contemporary fiction, books by male authors with male protagonists, YA classics by older authors, and more. Word Weaves

I grew up a horse crazy girl in Florida. The word "horse" wasn't in my parents' vocabulary or their budget, so I lived out my fantasy in books. I read every horse book in the elementary school library. Then a fourth grade teacher read Marjorie Keenan Rawlings' "The Yearling" to the class. The book held me captive, chapter by chapter. I couldn't bear Rawlings' heart wrenching truths, and I couldn't stop listening. That year, my parents divorced. I remember sitting with my little brother reading his tattered copy of Dr. Seuss' "Green Eggs and Ham" and feeling comforted by the familiarity of a childhood treasure. I can't imagine a life without books.

I had two satisfying careers pursuing childhood passions...horses and art. For twenty years, I taught riding to students of all ages. A sketch I did of a well-known trainer led to fifteen years of portrait work. Two years ago, I started writing a tale about whimsical figures I'd drawn in my sketchbook. The story played in my head while I took care of the dogs, did the dishes, took a shower...it even woke me in the middle of the night. Now that tale is a middle grade novel. I look back and realize I'd been telling stories with my art all along. I miss the horses but they're nuzzling their way into my books.

I live in Florida with my husband, an artful photographer, and two barely civilized rescued dogs, Ella and Hobbit.

I started this blog in the beginning of January 2011 as an idea to have a form of online diary as well as a place to keep track of all the books I was reading. GatheringBooks is a space devoted to celebrating timeless narratives written for the young-at-heart. We are a gathering of bibliophiles and book-hunters who are ageless enough to declare that magic, enchantment, and castles-in-the-air exist … if you know where to find ‘em. Through our passion for the written word, we wish to develop a collection of our favorite picture books for children (and grown-ups too!) and young adult (YA) literature, and yes fiction for grown ups (on occasion) – and share this with fellow book-lovers, inspired teachers, and enthusiastic parents who are aware of the power of narrative and story-telling in shaping and molding young minds.

Zombie Girl Shambling

I am a bookseller, book reviewer and working on my first two YA novels. I started blogging a month or so ago and love it. My focus on these two blogs is primarily YA. Bookgirl Knitting has a few other things also.

My third blog is a little different, but still very much YA oriented. It is a cute zombie blog with some gothic elements. No biting. I keep it lighthearted and fun. (YA centric)

Blogging and book reviewing has become a way of life for me. I have five blogs. The ones not mentioned above are a cookbook blog and the other for knitting and crafty distractions from writing my books. I won the Versatile Blogger award for Bookgirl in the Kitchen recently. I have 9 rescue dogs, knit and crochet like a fiend, love my new Nookcolor and Ipad, have spoken recently at a YA/MG writers group here in Houston and will be speaking in early January to the Houston branch of SCWBI. I am on Facebook, Twitter as Dana19018, Goodreads, Shelfari, Librarything, Bookblogs and bn.com.

I originally hail from Waukegan, Illinois, but spent most of my childhood in Florida and Virginia. My younger years were primarily spent reading in my room, complete with Halloween vampire posters on the walls year round, and monster characters on my desk. (My current office has the same décor.)

Throughout high school, I read like a crazy woman. As I got my second job at a bookstore, my love of books was even more fully entrenched. Paychecks optional. Books essential.

Now I still work at a bookstore and am writing two of my own YA books. I discovered blogging in September of 2010 and haven’t budged far from my computer or phone ever since.

My hobbies are writing YA, baking, knitting, stitching, crochet, movie watching, rescue puppies, book reviewing and running down the chocolate aisle at the local grocery store in search of the newest and oddest chocolate I can find.

Halo! My name is Orhedea. I am 15 and I currently live in Moscow. Sometimes I escape to Florida and Kiev, after next year I'm thinking of Paris. I'm a total traveling frog. I love reading, which is why i started a book diary not too long ago. There I mostly post my opinion on any book I find interesting. Mostly it's YA, since I have way too much depressing classics at school, and sometimes it's not YA. My newest find is steam punk. I'm still discovering it, but it's definitely an unusual genre. My favorite books are Sherlock Holmes, Vampire Academy, Shiver, Dorian Grey and Canterville Ghost, Dreaming of Amelia etc.

Brush Up On Your Reading

My name is Nina and I started this blog November 2010, mainly because I liked talking about books I've read, and to encourage people to read more books. Rachel's Book Reviews

I am a YA reviewer (mostly fiction), I started my book review website in August and it took off instantly! Now, I have over 5,000 views in over 18 different countries. I strive to get more teens to read! I also hope that teens realize that they do not have to compromise their morals to find fun literature. In my reviews, I have one paragraph on the story and a short paragraph on what I did or didn't like and why. I also address anything that may be controversial.
